A little of the history of Burns Crystal
Burns Crystal was founded in October 1987 by a glass cutter previously working with Edinburgh Crystal.
Assisted to start the business by East Ayrshire Council the village of Mauchline is the home of Burns Crystal, named after Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns who spent a great deal of his life in Mauchline.
The business specialises in the cutting of crystal products and the hand engraving of those products for the retail trade.
Arthur Levy acquired the company in 1998 after spending many years in distribution and retailing. Arthur and his wife Joelle work in the company, ensuring that this family firm continues to provide the level of service its customers require. Derek Robertson, the Operations Manager, is responsible for the smooth running of the factory whilst overseeing all aspects of quality control.
From its base in Scotland, Burns Crystal now sells to customers in England, Ireland and Wales. Exports are shipped to America, Canada, Australia, Europe and Scandinavia.
Today, Burns Crystal is still firmly located in the village of Mauchline. They are proud to be a major employer in the community, actively supporting neighbourhood activity.
