Description

From a limited stock of vintage life rings belonging to a family who once owned a fleet of “Western Ladies” (ex Royal Navy Harbour Defence Motor Launches) we have been able obtain and restore the painted canvas over cork life rings and bring them back to their former glory, these historic life rings rescued from a stock room in Torquay are now fully restored and beautifully hand painted, creating a lovely tribute to the life of these iconic “little ships” which played such an important role during the war and also went on to become an integral part of Torbay life as passenger ferries, transporting locals and holiday makers alike around the bay and up the River Dart for many many years. Sadly these little vessels are no longer with us, but remain firmly in our hearts. Each life ring is a unique tribute to different vessels.

This Life Ring has been lovely restored and hand painted by a very talented lady here in Brixham as a fitting tribute to HMS ML1396 with White Ensigns either side HMS to the top and ML1396 on the bottom as a tribute to the launches early life in the Royal Navy as a Harbour Defence Motor Launch and was amongst the many “Little Ships” who assisted in the D. Day evacuation at Dunkirk.
